Firefighting Practices session
9-28-2008
The department traveled to DuBois training grounds for a day of practice suppression, search, ventilation, command, etc. The drills started at 10:00. About 20 members participated and got a lot out of the evolutions. While on the training, box 1-A-1-HH was alerted for an activated alarm. Most of the manpower headed back as a few got the truck secured to head to the alarm. The engine got out as units on scene reported a false alarm. All units were placed in service. The truck never left the grounds, while the rescue returned to finish the mop up.
Firefighting Practices session
10-06-2007 09:00
A house that was to be razed for a project at the community library was offered to the department for training. Due to the short period of time from being notified of this opportunity to when it was to be torn down, the house could not be burned for live fire training. However, a crew assembled to practice some firefighting activities. State instructor Jim Corby was on hand to offer some guidance and answer questions. The members present set the truck and ground ladders to reach the roof. They practiced the ventilation process and some interior evolutions. The junior members also got some time inside with air packs.
